Semi-Permanent Makeup Correction Glasgow

Expert correction of failed or poorly executed SPMU brow, eyeliner, and lip work from other clinics — honest assessment, bespoke correction plan, medical oversight throughout.

SPMU Correction in Glasgow

Obsidian's SPMU correction service exists to help clients whose semi-permanent makeup has faded incorrectly, changed colour, migrated outside the intended area, or was applied with poor technique at another clinic. Whether your brows have turned ashy or blue-grey as the pigment ages, your eyeliner has spread or lost definition, or your lip blush has faded to an unflattering orange or brown tone, our specialist practitioners can assess what is present and develop a realistic correction plan.

Not all SPMU correction cases are the same. Some cases require colour correction — layering a corrective tone over an existing discoloured pigment to neutralise and restore a natural brow colour. Others require partial or full removal using saline before new pigment can be applied cleanly. In more complex cases, a multi-step programme combining removal sessions with staged re-pigmentation delivers the best long-term result. Your correction plan is bespoke to your specific situation.

Every SPMU correction client begins with a detailed in-person consultation, photographic assessment, and an honest conversation about what is realistically achievable. Our practitioners will not overpromise — we set clear expectations about the number of sessions likely required, the probable outcome, and the timeline. Obsidian's correction work is frequently sought by clients who have been let down elsewhere, and our medical-grade standards ensure the highest possible level of care.

Benefits of Our Correction Service

The Correction Process

01

Detailed Correction Consultation & Photographic Assessment

A thorough in-person consultation photographs and assesses the existing SPMU work, evaluates pigment type and depth, and identifies the most appropriate correction pathway — direct over-pigmentation, colour neutralisation, or staged removal and re-pigmentation.

02

Removal Preparation (if required)

Where the existing pigment is too saturated or discoloured to correct directly, saline removal sessions are scheduled to lighten the area before new work is applied. A minimum of 6–8 weeks must elapse between removal and new SPMU.

03

Correction SPMU Application

Once the skin is in the correct condition for re-pigmentation, the correction SPMU treatment is applied. Technique, pigment, and approach are selected based on the individual case.

04

Review & Refinement

A follow-up review assesses healing and applies any final refinements. Complex cases may include additional sessions to complete the correction.

Aftercare Advice

  • Follow aftercare instructions specific to the correction treatment performed
  • Avoid all cosmetics, water, and steam to the treated area during healing
  • Do not interfere with any scabbing or peeling — this is critical to the correction process
  • Allow full healing between each correction or removal session
  • Attend all scheduled review appointments — refinement is part of the process

Suitable Candidates & Contraindications

  • Clients with unwanted, discoloured, asymmetrical, or poorly applied SPMU from any provider
  • All correction clients require an in-person consultation — no remote assessments
  • Complex cases involving heavily saturated or very old pigment may have limited correction potential
  • Not suitable for clients who cannot commit to a multi-session programme if required
  • Medical assessment with our Nurse Prescriber is integral to every correction case
  • Patch test required if new pigment is to be introduced

Frequently Asked Questions

In most cases, yes — but the degree of correction possible depends on the saturation, colour, and age of the existing pigment. Lightly faded or mildly discoloured brows are often correctable with colour neutralisation or careful over-pigmentation. Heavily saturated or very dark brows typically require a programme of saline removal sessions to lighten the area before new work can be applied. Our practitioners will give you an honest assessment of what is achievable in your specific case.

Not always. If the existing pigment has faded to a manageable level and the colour can be effectively neutralised, it may be possible to correct directly. However, if the pigment is very dark, significantly discoloured, or has migrated, removal sessions first significantly improve the outcome of any subsequent correction work.

Yes — ashy, grey, or blue-toned brows are one of the most common correction presentations we see. The grey or blue tone results from certain pigment formulas ageing without the warm undertones, or from insufficient pigment depth during original application. Colour correction using a warm-toned neutraliser, followed by re-pigmentation, can restore a natural brow colour in most cases.

The timeline for SPMU correction varies widely by case. Simple colour corrections may be achievable in one to two sessions over 2–3 months. Complex corrections requiring multiple removal sessions followed by staged re-pigmentation may span 6–12 months or more. Your practitioner will give you a realistic timeline at consultation.

Yes — the majority of our correction clients present with work from non-specialist or less experienced providers. We do not require prior knowledge of the pigment brand or technique used. Our assessment focuses on what is present on the skin now, and we develop a correction plan based on that.

In most cases, we can significantly improve the appearance and achieve a natural or near-natural result. However, the final outcome depends on the original damage, the saturation and depth of the existing pigment, and the skin's response to treatment. We always set realistic expectations — correction is a process, not a single session fix.
