Advanced Aesthetic Courses
Our advanced aesthetics programme covers five core modalities in medical aesthetic practice. Each course is delivered by an expert practitioner with over 20 years of clinical experience, under the direct supervision of our Nurse Prescriber where prescribing oversight is required.
Injectables
Facial volumisation, contouring, and structural augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers. Covers facial anatomy in depth, product selection and properties, injection technique across key anatomical zones, managing common complications, and aftercare protocols. Students work from theory through to live model practical sessions under close clinical supervision.
See treatment at our clinic →Injectables
Botulinum toxin theory and clinical application for aesthetic practitioners. Covers muscle anatomy, dosing and reconstitution, injection sites for the upper and lower face, client assessment and managing expectations, and recognising and responding to adverse events. Medical prescribing oversight is included as part of the course structure.
See treatment at our clinic →Skin Regeneration
Intradermal microinjection technique for delivering deep skin hydration, improved elasticity, and a luminous glow. Covers skin booster product properties, injection depths and patterns, treatment protocols for face and neck, patient selection, and realistic outcome management. A growing treatment with strong client demand and excellent results.
Advanced Skin
Polynucleotide (PDRN/PN) therapy — mechanism of action, treatment protocols, patient suitability and selection, and how to position polynucleotides within a combination treatment programme. Covers both foundational PN applications and advanced combination approaches for skin regeneration and anti-ageing.
Body Aesthetics
Fat dissolving injection technique for targeted body and facial fat reduction. Covers relevant anatomy, patient screening and suitability assessment, injection technique and depth, treatment planning for multiple sessions, aftercare management, and setting realistic client expectations around the treatment journey.
Clinical Safety
At Obsidian Institute of Aesthetics, all injectable and advanced aesthetics training is supervised by our qualified Nurse Prescriber. This is not a box-ticking exercise — it is integral to the clinical rigour of every course we deliver.
All prescription-only medicines used in injectable training are handled in full compliance with Scottish medicines legislation. Prescribing oversight is built into the course structure from day one, and students learn to operate within the correct clinical governance framework as a core competency — not an afterthought.
Patient safety is drilled throughout every course. From client consultation and contraindication assessment to complication recognition and emergency protocols, our graduates leave with the clinical judgment to practise safely and the confidence to know when to refer.
Entry Requirements
Our advanced aesthetics courses are designed for practitioners who are ready for clinical injectable training. Entry requirements vary by course — our team will advise on the correct starting point for your background during your initial consultation.
Most advanced injectable courses are appropriate for practitioners with a medical or clinical background (nursing, paramedicine, dentistry, medicine) or those who already hold a relevant aesthetic qualification. Foundation injectable modules do not require prior aesthetics study — full theory is covered on course.
Before enrolling on any advanced aesthetics course, we conduct a short consultation to understand your current experience level, professional background, and training goals. This ensures you are placed on the most appropriate course for where you are right now.
All students must hold valid professional indemnity insurance before attending any advanced aesthetics training. We can advise on appropriate insurance providers if needed.
No prior study of aesthetics theory is required before attending a foundation injectable module. All relevant anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical protocols are taught as part of the course curriculum, ensuring every student starts from a consistent, verified baseline of knowledge.
